Acute myocardial infarction occurs as acute chest pain (Levine sign) either continuous or periodic and may reflect to both arms or the jaw. The pain is frequently associated with intense sweating.
At this stage the patient calls an ambulance and if the distance to the tertiary medical center is within the timeframe of 2 hours the lifesaving procedure of Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PPCI) is performed. The ER cardiologist will diagnose the ST elevation MI and following appropriate pharmacotherapy the patient will immediately go the Catheterization Laboratory for PPCI
